Ads and Jodel guidelines

Updated today

How does Jodel make sure its advertising efforts are in line with its guidelines?

Jodel aims to become the leading hyperlocal app for anyone who wants to instantly discover and engage with the community. This can only happen with the adherence of users and advertisers to the community guidelines, ensuring that Jodel communities stay safe and secure.

Advertisers are companies, brands or individuals who want to promote their products or services. They are able to do so through automated platforms (DSP or demand-side platforms) that work with Jodel, and through which we block sensitive categories, in adherence to our guidelines, such as but not limited to:

  • Consumer Loans

  • Drugs & Supplements

  • Get Rich Quick

  • Politics

  • References to Sex

  • Religion

  • Sensationalism

  • Sexual & Reproductive Health

  • Significant Skin Exposure

  • Social Casino Games

  • Dating

Other measures

During Ramadan our team checks the automated ads manually. We want to ensure a positive experience for our users especially during these sacred times.

What do I do when I see an add that violates Jodel’s guidelines?

As you saw above, Jodel does its best to filter and supervise its automated ads.

Some ads are very tricky and are mistakenly categorised under “local, friendship, social media”. When you notice any ads that violate Jodel guidelines, please take a screenshot of the ad and share it with our support team. Upon examination we will immediately remove the app and permanently block the advertiser.
