Why do Jodelers with an Android Smartphone need a Google Account to sign up on Jodel?
When using Jodel for the first time, every Jodeler gets an own Account where we store all Posts and Jodels from this Person. Also, this way a Jodeler can see his/her own Posts in the App itself.
Originally, this account was linked to an unique ID based on the device information of the Smartphone. For data protection reasons, android no longer allows access to this device information since November 2020. Without access to the device information, the Jodel system no longer knows who the person is and cannot assign an existing account.
You can now use Jodel either via an email login or by signing in via Google.
Even if the Google service is used for the account, it is not possible for Google to figure out what individual Jodelers write on Jodel. And vice versa: Jodel employees (with exception of the Google email address) have no access to your Google account information. Further information can be found in our privacy policy.
