At Jodel, we’re all about #GoodVibesOnly; building a safe, respectful, and fun place where you can share, laugh, and connect with your local community. To make sure those good vibes stay strong, we have a dedicated moderation system.
This system combines:
Smart automated tools that quickly spot potential problems,
Our awesome team of moderators (yes, this could be you!), and
The help of our community through reports.
Together, we make sure posts, comments, and images follow our Community Guidelines. Moderation isn’t about limiting what you can say – it’s about protecting everyone from harmful or illegal content and keeping Jodel open, diverse, and welcoming for all.
How are potential moderators selected?
How are potential moderators selected?
Moderating is a privilege for our most trusted and positive Jodelers 🤝
There’s a minimum Karma requirement to enter the pool of potential moderators.
However, Karma alone doesn’t decide who gets picked.
What we look for in potential moderators:
What we look for in potential moderators:
Posting positive and helpful content,
Flagging posts that break our Guidelines,
Helping others by answering questions,
Respecting different opinions and supporting diversity in the community.
How is “Correct Percentage” calculated?
How is “Correct Percentage” calculated?
After you complete all your moderation tasks, you can check your score 🏆
Your percentage is based on the last 20 control tasks you’ve completed.
Each decision counts equally in the calculation.
Want to try it yourself? Our amazing Gurus made a tool you can play with: Check the calculator here.
How do we prevent abuse in moderation?
How do we prevent abuse in moderation?
We take fairness seriously:
Multiple moderators must agree before a post gets blocked.
If you report a post yourself, it may still appear in your queue; but your own vote won’t be counted 🤫
If a moderator doesn’t follow our Guidelines, their decisions can be “muted” (not counted).
The mute is lifted once their decisions align with our Guidelines again, otherwise, they may be removed from moderation permanently.
How do we handle wrong flag reasons?
How do we handle wrong flag reasons?
Moderating isn’t always straightforward; sometimes a post is flagged for the wrong reason.
Example: If a harassing post is flagged as “sexually explicit,” it still violates our Guidelines because harassment isn’t allowed. In this case, moderation will still block the post to keep our community safe.
